Exclamation how to install YMESSENGER in mandrake 8


please help me install yahoo messenger in mandrake 8.
i dont know how to. i get errors.

I NEED SOME HELP. AM A NEWBIE. I just installed mandrake just recently.

HOW TO INSTALL YAHOO MESSENGER?

please do help me. i really need to use the messenger. plws.

hi,
always post the errors which you get, it makes people understand better.

for ymessenger you can search for "rpm" or
use "urpmi" for downloading that.

urpmi is a tool for mandrake for downloading other things
many times when you untar something or try using "rpm" they generated dependency errors.
the tools like "urpmi" helps you at this point.

so first download 'urpmi' then start downloading other things.

the error is:

error: failed dependencies:
libc.so.6(GLIBC_2.3) is needed by ymessenger-1.0.4-1

how do i resolve this.
help me pls

Use gaim. It's more polished and user friendly. It can also connect to AOL, MSN, etc.

gaim should come with mandrake.

i will try using gaim. but my bro wants ymessenger. please do give some tips on how to install. so sorry, am so new in linux. thanx.

it may be like this....i don't know b'coz i never used mandrake.
do some google work and find out how to use "urpmi".
