how to install ...i386.deb on amd64?

hello

i know that theoretically it should be possible to run 32-bit applications on amd64. however, when i try to install a 32-bit package on amd64, it keeps returning an "architecture error".
is there a way to recompile it or fool the system somehow?

or simply, how can i install flash plug-in for konqueror on kanotix64 (based on knoppix)?

sources are not always available. f.ex. the flash player or opera browser only comes as an installer / package which refuses to work.

This is an old post but I recently had to deal with this and the way I did it was using dpkg and forcing the architecture, you can check how I did it here:

http://www.nixheiser.org/dpkg

Hope this help.

Well all though this threat is old I guess I will add a useful script here. This nice guy at http://www.myscienceisbetter.info/in...-on-linux.html wrote this good script/howto to install 64bit flash all though there are repos for it as well.
