Question How to Find RPM Packages from the CDROM


Hi
This my first post in this forum and if dont follow the rule so bear with me.
I am new to linux and facing some problems in it hope will get the solutions from the expert of this forums.

I have installed Fedora Core 8 on my PC. Now the problem is that i want to install the FTP server, but the problem is that i dont know that how to find particular rpm from the packages, mean i dont know the name of the rpm package for the FTP, similarly is the problems with the other servers like DHCP...

Secondly when i entered netconfig command in the terminal it does not recognize it, do i have to install it also.

Please give me advise that how to proceed forward as i am stuck in this area

From the menus:

Applications->Add/Remove Software, enter root passwd at prompt, select search and specify ftpd. Basically you've got a choice of 2: vsftpd or proftpd.

If you are connected to the internet you could alternatively do a yum -y install proftp*.rpm or better yet search using yum search ftp. This will give you a list of various ftp rpms you can install then follow the 1st procedure to install it.

I am new to Linux. Trying to install Oracle and have a lot of RPM packages to get as a pre-install. Where is the best place to get these packages?
