How to change display resolution

I'm using a Gateway E-4200 machine and a Gateway VX700 monitor with RH 7.2. When I installed to OS I set the resolution to 640 by 480. Now I'd like to change it a to higher resolution. I know the hardware supports it.

The problem is, KDE does not seem to offer any control panel that allows you to set resolution.

Can someone tell me how to do it, or at give me a hint on where to start? Is there a command-line tool that will help? If so, if I just knew what the command was, I could look up the man page.

Thanks!

Ethan

I found the solution to this problem by searching the archives. Here it is for future searches:

Quote from neo77777, 07-14-2002:

you should edit your /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 file in Section "Screen" you need to edit Subsection "Display" to include desired resolution

code:--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Subsection "Display"
Depth 24
Modes "1024x768" "800x600"
EndSubsection

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It might not work if you video hardware doesn't support it
