How to associate files with icons

Hi,
My system is Ubuntu 6.06,use Gnome.
I hava a problem that I don't know how to associate files with icons.
I've installed Mathematica and have download it's icon files, but the *.nb files still have no icon. Can anyone tell me how I should do to associate *nb files to those files,thanks.

In this case I've closed the original because the dupe (2 minutes
apart) is in the more suitable forum.
