How to access windows data from Linux installed on vmware via samba

Hi,

I am a linux newbie.
Well I have windows XP on base machine.
I have installed linux ver-5 on vmware workstation v-5.0.0 build-13124. It is RedHat Enterprise Linux Server release 5(Tikanga)
kernel 2.6.18-8.e15 on an i686 (smartd version 5.36[i686-redhat-linux-gnu])
Can anyone tell me how I can access a windows share directory from linux
installed on vmware via samba...is it possible?
Also what are the share definitions to be configured in /etc/smb.conf

To access local windows directory is internet connection required on linux?

Regards.

Forgot to add that you can also create a credentials file and place the information in the file as follows
username=<username>
password=<password>

save that then when connecting you can supply credentials=/path/to/credentials_file
