How do you mount and read from a disk?


How do i mount and read from a disk in redhat9. Do i do it in the terminal and what do i type? thanks

What kind of disk? Hard disk, floppy disk, compact disk (CD) ?

You can use the "Disk Utility" in the system tools menu, iirc .... click the device you want, then click mount.

Or, there is a GUI mounting applet you can put in your panel for fast mount/unmount

got it thanks guys,
mount /mnt/floppy/
or
mount /mnt/cdrom/

that would be /dev/sda1 etc

hello im running suse 9.1 now when i mount my floppy i get error message /. is of type fsdevice but has no dev = entry so if i go in to properties can some 1 tell me what it should say thanks

I'm using suse now aswell and i would also like to know what you type at the terminal to mount drives, is it not the same as redhat with mount /mnt/floppy/ and mount /mnt/cdrom/ ??
