How do I start a GUI program from another location?

So, I have the GUI running on my laptop, but I would like to use something like SSH to start a program on my laptop. I don't know how to do this.

I have done things previous to this like using SSH to make the computer in the other room make annoying beeping noises, but not this.

First thing you need is the SSH server in the computer that you want to connect to.
Then you use the client to connect to that server.

If you run a graphical command from the command line, you will need to specify the display.

I can get GTK apps to run with this:

gedit --display :0.0
