Red face How do I restore USB service in FC3

Hello ,

This is my first message. I have dual boot system with xp and linux FC3.

Couple of weeks back my usb service was working fine.. I used to attach my 1GB lexar media jump drive in usb port and it used to detect it on fly.

Since i attach a wireless usb lan and tried to build the prism2.5 usb code, something is messed up. I have removed all instances of prism2 object files ..

I also see that in my modprobe there are two lines regarding usb alias.. earlier i used to see the list of USB devices including the jump drive. I tried "hotplug usb.agent" it just returns back without any error !!! when i run modprobe

Now, When I run "lsusb" is get nothing. command just returns without any error !!!

So, how do i restore my usb service back ?

You would need to check to see if your using uhci, ohci or maybe even ehci and try to modprobe the proper core module and check for errors there.

maybe try lsmod to see if any modules are loaded.

one of these must be loaded..

ls /lib/modules/`uname -r`/kernel/drivers/usb/host
ehci-hcd.o uhci.o usb-ohci.o usb-uhci.o

jump drives will need to have the usb-storage module.

looking at lsmod you should see the loaded usb modules listed under usbcore...

usbcore 58636 1 (autoclean) [usb-storage usbserial hci_usb acm hid usb-ohci driverloader hsfusbcd2 hsfosspec]
