How do I get back to the desktop?

I'm running Puppy Linux 3.0. I used Cntl/Alt Backspace to reboot the X Window, now I get a black screen with the # sign and a blinking cursor. I've had this happen with other distros as well. Forget what commands I need to get back to the desktop. With Puppy your automatically root so there's no username/password. Thanks.
