how do i change text colors


i have a slight color vision problem - how can i change the default colors linux rh8.0 uses when i do a ls -la ???

you could do a ls -al --color=no
I have a hard time seeing the green. I've changed the default background color in the terminal to a more friendly color also...

I used it a while back when the Bash I was using on a stock install didn't have the fancy colors I liked.
