how can i fix this Premission denied error?


Hey guys!

How can i fix this error? i'm kinda newebie for linux ...


F793Syncmaster@ubuntu:~$ apt-get install wine
E: Could not open lock file /var/lib/dpkg/lock - open (13: Permission denied)
E: Unable to lock the administration directory (/var/lib/dpkg/), are you root?

probably you need to close synaptic package manager (or another package management tool). Only one of them is allowed to run.

To make that a little more clear.
In Linux/Unix you need to be root to make system wide changes. Ubuntu makes use of the sudo program to elevate your user to the root account while launching that program. More info can be found here: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RootSudo
