How can I do when the mouse didn't response without restart


there were 4 days that the workstation keep running elapsed.At that time I were trying to access the windows of the panel on the Linux(RadHat 4.0 enterprise),but no respond from the machine.The software was running well.that's can verify use the shh or Xmanager etc.just in this case,I got oen way can handle it bu using kill the GNOME progress(gnome-session),but this can also close the window interface,does anyone else have some ideas about this?

You could try:

# sh /etc/init.d/gpm restart
