Yes, there are many things in the man pages - quite a large number of good options. Simply, I removed the 'dry-run' and ran it. All the files copied over.

Is there any reason to think there would be a problem with the copied files based on the command:

rsync -av /source.dir /target.dir
I did not want the "/" after the directory name so i took it out.

You probably ended up with /source.dir contents in /target.dir/source.dir/ but if you are happy then that is good.
