Help Setting Up Virtual Machine

OK, I'm trying to set up Windows XP service pack 3 on a virtual machine on my PC which I'm currently running Ubuntu (Gnome) on. I downloaded an .iso image of the install disk, and I tried to put it onto the virtual hard drive I created. This is what happened:
Quote:
dan@Dan-PC:~$ qemu -cdrom my_os_install.iso -hda c.img -m 256 -boot d
qemu: could not open hard disk image 'my_os_install.iso'
What am I doing wrong?
I'm doing this with QEMU using this tutorial.

P.S.
I renamed the .iso file to my_os_install.iso so that's not a problem
Also I tried CDing to the file and then doing this and it still didn't work.

Did you try putting a path in the iso filename? Something like

Code:
qemu -cdrom /path/to/iso/my_os_install.iso -hda c.img -m 256 -boot d
Can you show us ls -l my_os_install.iso

Yes step three, and I'm the owner and administrator.
