Question HELP I messed up my GUI/Desktop in Dreamlinux

I'm not sure what I did I think I changed the driver to I810 which it should be and something with the xorg, not really sure, all I know is that the desktop shows a fine line on top and nothing works. I have tried every way possible to change the resolution, but I'm not sure if that's the problem? I have posted in the D.L. forum and I'm waiting to see if someone can help, has anyone else had the problem with a distro, any ideas?

Thanks

Post your xorg file from /etc/X11/ first. If the GUI is too messed up to achieve this, you should be able to use a virtual terminal.

That's a good way to start diagnosing the problem.

You say I810 is the right driver, so you have intel 8xxx onboard graphics?

your description of

isn't terribly helpful. A screenshot would be nice.

The should also be an xorg log in /var/logs/ or /etc/X11 that you could look at too

Along with the stuff that ethics suggested, you should also run the command lspci. That will list, among other things, the graphics chip in your system. Here's the line for my nearest machine:

01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] 300/305 PCI/AGP VGA Display Adapter (rev 90)

From that, you can tell what driver should be in xorg.conf.
