i generally use g++ filename.cpp.but i want to know for gcc!
i tried tis gcc filename -o.c it dint wrk.

man gcc will give you some help.
gcc -o <target filename> filename.c
or
gcc -c filename.c
or ....
the usage of gcc and g++ are more or less similar
