frame based vs dialog based

When you use an IDE and it asks you if you want frame based or dialog based, what is the difference?

Huh? How about you tell us "which IDE"? And what kind of project you're
attempting to get started with?

Cheers,

I know this is an old thread but the question was never answered and I have the same question.
I am using Codeblocks with the minGW compiler in windows 7.

I'm not sure why the type of project is necessary to answer the question, but I'm attempting to use opencv to write a program which loads images, merges them and modifies other attributes of them. I'm attempting to write this in C++
