Hey,

If u want to recover password, I mean u want to know what exactly password was, u need to get hashed password from /etc/shadow and line where user is and try to unhash it, but it doesn't always work, if u had difficult password before. And if u want just recover user follow varunb setup. In case u forgot your root password... That's harsh^^, when u reboot your pc, go to edit menu of Grub or Lilo, and to the booting image "LinuxOVZ(or smthng like that" append that line "single rw init=/bin/bash", once u get in, just run passwd.

There is a simple solution just login to the single user shell

If you have a dvd of your OS then it is much easier or else

when you start your machine just enter the grub menu where you will find three options
Code:
1. root (hd0,0)
2. kernel /vmlinuz-x.x.x.x ro root=LABEL=/1
3. initrd /initrd-x.x.x..img
Just go the 2. option and press e

you will enter the edit mode

give a space at the end of line and write 1

hit enter, exit and boot

you will boot in single user shell

when you get a shell to work on type following commands

Code:
# cd /mnt/sysimage/

#chroot /mnt/sysimage

this will give you the root authentication to change password

then

Code:
#passwd
give your new password
good luck

On redhat or fedora systems just boot to runlevel 1 (post above) and the system boots to a root console where you can run passwd.

This is the THIRD TIME you've asked the same question. The answers/solutions haven't changed.

Are you not reading/following the replies you're getting in your other threads? Why ask the same question multiple times in the span of a month? If you know the root password, you can obviously just log in as root and change your user password. If you DON'T know the root password, follow one of the MANY replies you've got in your other threads, and reset it.
