There is a simple solution just login to the single user shell
If you have a dvd of your OS then it is much easier or else
when you start your machine just enter the grub menu where you will find three options
Code:
1. root (hd0,0)
2. kernel /vmlinuz-x.x.x.x ro root=LABEL=/1
3. initrd /initrd-x.x.x..img
Just go the 2. option and press e
you will enter the edit mode
give a space at the end of line and write 1
hit enter, exit and boot
you will boot in single user shell
when you get a shell to work on type following commands
Code:
# cd /mnt/sysimage/
#chroot /mnt/sysimage
this will give you the root authentication to change password
then
Code:
#passwd
give your new password
good luck
