Hi,

The journal will not be for your 'fat32' filesystem but for your 'ext4' filesystem.

Hi.
Not only the operating system needs to support journaling but the filesystem too. Linux does support journaling, but FAT32 doesn't, so none will be used when something is written onto your usb drive.
No harm will come when using a not journaling filesystem with an OS which does support it (linux+fat32,ntfs,ext2), but remember not to use a journaling filesystem with an OS that doesn't support it (windows+ext3,ext4,reiserfs).
