evolution broken

I have tried to restore evolution from my copies of ~/.evolution and ~/.gconf/apps/evolution but it didn't work.
I deleted these files on the new pc, did a force-shutdown and no joy.

Even when I manually reenter all my email account details, when i restart the puter it has no memory of having set up evolution in the first place!! It starts the setup from scratch again,.

Am I missing something here??

I think the thread title says it all.
I gave up on Evolution a while back after similar frustrations. I was able to import the folders in claws, and have used it ever since.

thanks for the advice, claws does seem to work fairly well, although it might take a liottle while to get used to its search features! I quite liked the layout of evolution, but alas sad to say its been consigned to the waste.

Have you found the claws website? It helped me a lot when I made the changeover.
