error:cannot get exclusive lock on /var/lib/rmp/packages


Tried to install Realplayer and got this. What do I do now?


[user@machinename rhn-packages]$ rpm -ivh realplayer-8.0-3.i386.rpm
error: cannot get exclusive lock on /var/lib/rpm/Packages
error: cannot open Packages index using db3 - Operation not permitted (1)
error: cannot open Packages database in /var/lib/rpm
[user@machinename rhn-packages]$

You need to be root to install an rpm package.
