DVD ripping


I need a tool that rips DVDīs to avi or mpg, preferable with GUI!

it depends on how the ripper is extracting the information. if it is an encrypted DVD and your ripper "break" it, it is ilegal even if the DVD is yours.
most of these GUI rippers are based on mplayer. you should understand what mencoder does before concluding if it is ilegal or not.

Actually, that's not necessarily the case - depends what country you're in... I don't know that Romania has a DMCA equivalent.

What is DMCA?
To be onest: I donīt care how the rip tool works as long as it doas what I need! as a matter effect itīs not even sure that those dvdīs what yure buying here in romania from stores (for a lot of money) are not illegal copys allredy!

It is legal to make your own copies unless you do not distribute them over the internet, on the streets, and to your friends. Production studios says it is illegal.

mencoder has poor audio and video sync when making avi and wmv files. The transcode project has the best audio and video sync when encoding to avi or wmv files.

dvd::rip is using transcode! Now I try ti install this! Thanks
