Do I really need exim4 if I only use webmail?

I'm looking to improve my boot times for my home computer. I'm running Debian Sid AMD64, 2.6.26 kernel.

Do I really need mail transfer agent if I don't run a mail server? I pretty much only use webmail products, and, while it's installed, I can't remember the last time I fired up Evolution.

I'm thinking of giving Thunderbird a try to see if I like it, but that would be more for having my contacts readily accessible when I'm offline than for the actual email.

Thanks for your help.
