For comment #165 purposes it should be OK to use nomodeset if necessary, though disappointing, to boot the DVD's rescue mode.
There are various kernel cmdline parameters that may be capable of avoiding panic besides nomodeset. Some you may wish to try include: nosmp, noapic, acpi=off, nolapic, noacpid. There is a very, very long list of other possibilities on kernel.org.
After update and then panic
I tried to kill the system.
So I tried booting LIVE CDs
Ubuntu
Debian
Knoppix
Fedora
but alle could not boot
or install
a new system.
I do daily backup
so kill the OS
is no problem.
