Hi. I followed the instructions at http://ranjith.itpublic.in/?p=24
to install compiz-fusion on my Fedora10.
Basically I did

yum install compiz-fusion compiz-fusion-gnome compiz-fusion-extras compiz-fusion-extras-gnome compiz-manager gnome-compiz-manager ccsm fusion-icon fusion-icon-gtk emerald emerald-themes

and finally enable compiz-fusion at login by
System -> Preferences -> Personal -> Sessions and click Add, and type
in Name: Fusion icon, Command : fusion-icon and Comment: Compiz Fusion panel
applet.

Upon logout and login again, I get a WHITE BLANK SCREEN.
I would really like to undo the step to auto-start compiz-fusion so that I can at least login as usual without compiz-fusion.

I am new to linux, so I guess
I can follow your instructions.

my desktop has an Intel(R 82865G graphics controller)Chipset for the graphic controller, and I believe that is making compiz-fusion very unhappy. Thanks!

I dont think you have installed graphics driver !!!
On board Intel Graphics card usualy dosent support Compiz ,it needs 3d acceleration
To get to know whether your system supports compiz you should have first downloaded compiz-check from this site
http://forlong.blogage.de/entries/pages/Compiz-Check
and then proceeded with installation.anyhow do this from text mode to login to text mode

press Ctrl+Alt+F1 At the login screen and login
This downloads compiz-check script to your current directory
run it you will get to know whether your system supports 3d acceleration and other features
As you said you cannot login to GUI --> this is only for the user for whom you have enabled fusion-icon at startup
