Change shebangs in rc.local file

Can I change the shebang in /etc/rc.local from #!/bin/sh to #!/bin/bash

Besides touch /var/lock/subsys/local, there's nothing in the rc.local file

I'm using the CentOS 5 distribution.

Let it be that way. Any reasons to do that. Bash will run the scripts that where shebangs is /bin/sh. They are compatible. There is no issue with your rc.local and do not change it if you do not have reason to do it. Surely enough you can add your own stuff there that you want to come up at boot.

Do you mean that if a script that needs the #!/bin/bash shebang will run fine with #!/bin/sh ?

Yes. It will. There should not be any issue with it. Let it be that way.
