cdrom input/output error

Hi. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong? Or could the problem below be a software error. Thanks for any answers.

[root@spc1-seve2-5-0-cust252 root]# cd /mnt/cdrom
bash: cd: /mnt/cdrom: Input/output error
[root@spc1-seve2-5-0-cust252 root]#

[root@spc1-seve2-5-0-cust252 root]# cd /mnt/cdrom2
bash: cd: /mnt/cdrom2: Input/output error
[root@spc1-seve2-5-0-cust252 root]#

I never expected for it to be forgetting that I had no disk in the drive. Just shows what happens when we think we are too smart. Thanks wiBo

Uh, you need to mount it first........
mount /dev/cdrom
then change directories
cd /mnt/cdrom
