cd rom not detected

Try in the Bios settings Load default settings to knowledge if you remove
the battery all you,re personal settings are gone
Or maybe yet better put you,re own settings back.

all the best

If you are talking about the battery on the motherboard, that's the battery that keeps power to the cmos/bios. If you never changed the settings in the bios you shouldn't have any problem with it, when the battery is removed and replaced it will put the bios setting to default settings which will detect the cd-rom. But you should go into the bios and set the clock. What I would look for is a loose wire IDE cable.

Oh another thing if you don't know always make sure you ground yourself before you touch the motherboard, touch the case or something to rid your body of any static electricity you may have stored in it. Don't take this lightly you can fry a motherboard with a static shock.

CD rom not detected

I posted a quistion that
I remove the battery (cell)of clock and after that my cd rom is not detected.
The reply is that to use the default setting of the BIOS.
Now the problem is that i have such a problamatic board that in the bios scheme there is no default button. also there is no cd rom setting button. tell me how i can use the default setting
There could be any other problem with the setting.I also want to know that how can i install fresh copy of window without CD rom support. how can i copy whole window from one partation to another. I want to know about the key words of dos to copy windows from one partation to another. then how can i start the process of installing the windows.
Actually i want to install a fresh copy of window by using run command.
after typing "cmd" in run command i starts the dos programme but after that i cannot copy the window folder from one partation to another and also i cannot start the process of starting windows.
My old post can be seen at the address.

You are misinterpreting what you have been told. If/when you removed the battery on the motherboard you also collapsed the memory on the motherboard and the motherboard settings are now what they were when it left the factory. You need to go into setup and try and then set the clock and tell the motherboard how to detect attached devices amongst other things.

In case you haven't noticed this forum is dedicated to Linux and is not a source of information for support of MicroSoft prducts.
