When I start to install, I boot the from the CD ( I have to use CD Number 2)
but after I press enter and it does some stuff it says it can't detect a CD ROM device?
It says then something about an additional drivers floppy disk.
Can someone help me?

Same problem here, as many others are apparently having. Mandrake says to boot from Disk 2 then switch. Getting the same problem if I boot from Disk 1 or 2. Anyone worked around this problem yet?
Same problem here. What I've found is that it finds devices correctly on my regular (newer) pc. I'm having the problem on my old Pentium-1 (which is doing a great job serving up web pages using mandrake 9.2.1!). The problem might be related to the BIOS not supporting EDD 3 (Enhanced Disk Device Services). Anyway, just do a search on "linux-kernel" for "disksig".
Hi, I'm a newbie trying to install mandrake 10 on an old toshiba satellite 430cdt.
The bios doesn't support booting from cdrom so I used smart boot manager to kick the process off. However, I'm then getting the same problem with additional drivers and no cd rom detected. I don't understand what I should do to fix it. Can anyone explain this to me in a reasonably idiot proof way?
I think we are all waiting on this. I'm pretty sure it's related to the latest EDD 3.0 implementation in the 2.6 kernel. Have a look at http://lwn.net/Articles/63986/ and what Matt Domsch from Dell is working on.
Yep, same problem. Do post if anyone finds out how to deal with it.
Has anyone read the installation instructions? Under alternative ways to install they mentions something about old modules that was removed because they where old and took a lot of space.
