Cant get GUI to work on slack

On mandrake, the gui was configured automatically... on slack i have no idea how to do it...

anyone know?

You should use either /usr/X11R6/bin/XF86Setup or /usr/X11R6/bin/xf86config . The first one is the graphical setup. The other text.

i always have better luck using the xf86config compared to the gui setup..

i've never been able to configure X perfectly using any of the tools. basically, i just use the default file and add my own settings (vid card drivers, screen depth, input cores). the most important thing is to figure out what vid card you have and find out which driver you should use with your card.

whenever i used any of the tools they wouldn't detect my card properly, and X would be REAL slow.
