Have you checked system settings>software sources>additional drivers tab? Usually the additional drivers are listed there. If you have an ATI card for graphics it might possibly bot be mentioned. Mine was not but it is an older Dell 1537. The wireless is most likely Broadcom so it is more than likely listed there.

We need to know the chip set for the wireless and video cards.

From a command prompt, as root user, rub the command 'lspci' without the quotes. Copy and paste the results here, use the quote wrap ( top of the browser window ) so the output is easier to read.

This is what it will look like.

Quote:
lspci
00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation N10 Family DMI Bridge
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation N10 Family Integrated Graphics Controller

00:1e.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801 Mobile PCI Bridge (rev e2)
00:1f.0 ISA bridge: Intel Corporation NM10 Family LPC Controller (rev 02)
00:1f.2 SATA controller: Intel Corporation N10/ICH7 Family SATA Controller [AHCI mode] (rev 02)

02:00.0 Network controller: Atheros Communications Inc. AR9285 Wireless Network Adapter (PCI-Express) (rev 01)
This is from my net book.

Once we know the hardware we google for the driver. If this is a new system, sometimes the drivers are not available from the distro, but are from the hardware maker ( not Dell ). They would then be in source format, and you have to compile them before use. Post the results and we'll see.

You should check the ask ubuntu site. Here is one sample: http://askubuntu.com/questions/13336...atheros-ar9285. If you search that site for your wireless card (AR9285) you will find it to be a tad problematic. They do have solutions over there though

Can you tell us what is wrong with it? Blank display? wrong size?

Video drivers for that video chip (in-built into your CPU) are already installed by default in Ubuntu, so the device should work correctly out of the box.
If that doesn't happen please provide an error description, including (if available) exact error-messages or warnings you get.

There should be no problem at all with that card and Compiz, AFAIK.
