Angry Can go into recovery mode

I have installed Kali Linux in Vmware but unfortunately, I forgot its password. Now for the sake of resetting the password, I want to boot it from Recovery Mode but it gives me the following error "Cannot Open access to control, The root account is locked. See Sulogin(8) man page for more details"

Kindly help me put
Thanks

Here's a link to the sulogin man page. You might take a look at it, then come back with any question you have. https://man7.org/linux/man-pages/man8/sulogin.8.html

In the long run, though, it just might be easier just to blow away that VM and create a new one and make sure you save the password somewhere, perhaps in a password vault like keepassxc.

Ok, so did you read the sulogin man page as suggested? The advice from frankbell is best, though...and I'd also suggest you read the Kali links in my posting signature.

Did you set your own password? If not, the default is "kali".
