Unhappy Can't boot Ramdisk problem ?

When I boot from the hard disk I get a message like "LILO 21.7-5" followed by around 3 lines of junk text and then "boot:"

When I hit return at the boot: prompt or it times out the boot starts but then I get a message something like ..

Ramdisk found at block 0
Uncompressing .....................................

The dots go on for ever and ever and my system therefore won't boot.

I can boot the system in rescue mode using the CD.

My machine is set up to dual boot Win2K on HDA and Linux on HDB.

I run SuSe 7.3 but I had this problem once last week when I was then running 7.1 . When it happenend last week I can't remember what I did. I think I might have run LILO but I'm not sure. Anyway LILO doesn't seem to help this time.

I presume there is a log of the boot somewhere ? Does it hold everything following the LILO message ?

Can anyone tell me whats going on ? Corrupt file somewhere ?
