booting from /mnt/disk containing dvd.iso(centos os)

i have installed rhel6 in my laptop and i was frustrated because of unable to read consumers identity thing. I dont have subscription. And now i want to it convert to centos.

my cdrom isnt working and to be able to boot my laptop i need to transfer my hard disk to my friends laptop and boot there. and i dont know why i cant also boot from usb. Ive downloaded centos mirror in .iso extension.

now i think my only chance is to run boot in GUI with rhel6 running but i dont know how to. is there any other way to convert my rhel6 to centos.

Grub and grub4dos and maybe a few others might be able to boot to an iso file.
http://askubuntu.com/questions/14194...ive-iso-images
This may or may not work. Some odd issues go with this.

Error is?
"The `yum` command shows an error message `Unable to read consumer identity`" Might be possible to change how yum accesses sources. Might be able to change to Centos sources.

Might be possible to switch over from RH to another OS from RH. Kind of like the old Knoppix install way.

I've set up pxe installs also. They work quite well.

You don't have to reinstall the system to switch to CentOS, just replace the RedHat mirrors with the CentOS mirrors, like described here: http://www.unixmen.com/how-to-jul-co...5-to-centos-5/
Of course you have to change the version numbers according to your needs, but the procedure should be the same.
