I believe that this is saying that you do not have the disk pointing to a valid kernel.

hi,

i kinda have the same problem as above but with slackware linux.

it does the 99 thing and sometimes the 01 on reboot so i'm forced to use a boot to load it.

is there anyway to fix this?

sincerely,
gammak7

it does point

to a valid kernel. and the proof for that is that when I use the boot disk (created during mandrake installation) it works fine.

Try typing lilo, that will reload the config file. I have never installed it in the super block. I have always installed it in the master boot record.

gammak7, both those modems are win modems. I have tried to get winmodems going without luck. I bought an external US Robotics. Slackware's how-to on dialup settings are a little lacking to say the least. I had a Mandrake bo that I stole the config files off of to get my Slackware PC to connect via dialup.

well the only prob is i put as much money into makeing this sys as i could at present time. so i dont know about getting a new modem cuz money is tight right now. i had some luck
but not much
the port ssyl somthing or wht ever on 0
is reqonizing something but its not sending any ati commands.

if nessecary i hav a pre p1 model 56k from conxant/rockwell its an old one but if it works i can try
its just the main problem is i cant install the drivers i keep getting a wrong compiler error. my nextpost if nessecary i'll post the error.

and my kernal is up to date along with the complier at v4.

sincerely,
gammak7
