Boot from floppy

I need to be able to boot from a floppy so I can begin the install process of SUSE. I have never been able to boot from cd for some reason. Trying to use Smart Boot Manager but unsure of which format I need to use and if there is a certain way to put it on a floppy.
Does the fact that I still have an old version of lilo installed although I have removed the old linux? I cannot get the mbr to reformat - I get "Bad command...". Any ideas?

Have you checked bios settings to enable booting from CD?

Yes, I have tried changing the bios settings to boot from cd as first. When I have tried this nothing happens - I have let it reboot normally.
Should I remove all other boot options?
As far as removing lilo - I tried c:\fdisk /mbr in a command line.
