hi i`m in the process of getting rid of micro$oft operating systems and was wondering if there are any programs for linux that would enable me to back up dvd 9 to dvd 5 movies as i am a keen collector of films back up coppies are essential (mad dog and child)and am hanging on to micro$oft just for this reason any one help?
i`ve done a search but i`m still none the wiser would just like someone to point me in the right direction of a program that works i`m after a program that will rip & compress a dvd9 to fit on a dvd5 and also a program that`ll convert a divx to a dvd.
Works without video preview and - unfortunatelly - i have to rip the dvd to my hard drive with another application (such as lxdvdrip) b4 encoding it to dvd5 with dvdshrink

That's kind of depressing.Shrink is so nice with Nero. It's about as close to one click backups as you get. I'm just trying to find the easiest solution under linux......

You got it man, though from my searching it looks like it'snot happening. I was hoping that Shrink through wine could at least rip to image for burning in one step.
has anyone looked into reauthoring the dvd to split it into two dvd without having to compress files. If you ripped the dvd to the harddrive you have the .VOB files, how tough is it to make a dvd from your .VOB files.
