Automounting my Digicam

I've been able to mount my camera pretty easy with my new install of Suse 9.0, by doing "mnt -t vfat /dev/sda1 mnt/usbdisk" (which I read off another thread) but is there a way to automount it so that the moment I plug it in, it will show up in that folder (/mnt/usbdisk)?

What I did for my camera was write a little script for it:

#!/bin/bash
mnt -t vfat /dev/sda1 /mnt/usbdisk
cd /mnt/usbdisk
konqueror

Then when you run the script it is mounted automagically and konqueror pops up and shows you what pictures you have. I don't know if thats what your looking for but thats what I do.

You might be able to configure automount to do something like this. Automount will automatically mount when you try to access the directory.

Well, what I'm trying to do is get the same kind of plug-n-play automounting I get from other OS's - where I just plug it in, and it gets mounted to somewhere like -that-, rather then running something like a script or a command. Not a big deal - but it'd be handy.

In a nutshell, I just want to know how to have my digital camera automount when I plug it in. Anyone know how to do this? It's just a USB storage device, like my jump drive (which I also want to automount).

I'm not sure whther you can make it mount when you plug it in, but automount will mount it whenever you try to access /mnt/usbdisk. I suggest creating a certain folder to contain the automounted stuff so it won't interfere with the other things not being automounted:'/mnt/auto/usbdisk'.
