Unhappy Attempt to connect to Cups server."Server Error"

Hi,
I have been printing OK.(Local printer, FC6 OS with gnome environment)I was having trouble trying to get the printer to cancel a print. I went to the Printer configuration part of FC6 and tried un-ticking the "Enable" checkbox so that the printer was not accepting jobs. This didn't work but when I went to reverse what I had done I couldn't connect to the Cups server again.
I got the following messages

"Cups Server Error
There was an error during Cups operation.
http Connection Encrypt failed"

and later I tried again & received this msg.
"Cups Server Error
There was an error during Cups operation
server error-service unavailable"

Ive tried putting "http://localhost:631" and "http://127.0.0.1:631" in the Firefox browser but get a message "Unable to connect"

I tried the following command as root "/sbin/service cups restart"
and received
Stopping cups [Failed]
Starting cups [OK]

I checked the error_log but don't really know what to look for.
Has anyone got any ideas what I may have done wrong or how to fix it?

egrep -C 3 "^[Ee]" error_log

Those lines (ones that start with an e) indicate an error.

Cheers,

Thanks Tinkster.
I tried what you said and got the message.
"Unable to open job control file" /var/spool/cups/c00027" no such file or dir.

Where do I go from here?

Smile fixed now; not sure why

I tried changing back from static IP adress to DHCP and I've now got connection with the CUPS server and am printing again. I don't quite see the logic but it's working again. Thanks
Bye
