Atheros AR5BWB222 wireless card

I am new to Linux and have just loaded Fedora 2.26.33.3-85.fc13.i686.PAE. I am trying to get my system to recognize my wireless card. it is a Qualcomm Atheros AR5BWB222. I am using the kernel to try and configure using the "modprobe -i ath9k" command I get the following response.

[root@server1 user1]# modprobe -i ath9k
WARNING: Deprecated config file /etc/modprobe.conf, all config files belong into /etc/modprobe.d/.
[root@server1 user1]#

Am I doing something wrong?. when I use the lspci command it shows the:
Network Controller: Atheros Communications Inc. Device 0034 (rev 01) in the list of devices.

I am doing a self paced Linux+ training course and would like to access the accompanying internet modules as i go through the training

It's complaining about your file called /etc/modprobe.conf. There should be a directory /etc/modprobe.d/ with various .conf files in there.

Are you running an old version of linux? Reading an old book? anyhow, move the file away and it may get on to complaining about errors that inform you.

I am run red hat fedora kernel 2.6.33.3
Should be seeing the file for the wireless CD here? I do not see the file "ath9k" in the etc/modprobe.d folder.
What do you mean by "move the file away"?

feedora 13 is definately unsupported & the only versions that are supported start at 18. Also you would most likely have to install the atheros firmware.

If you are determined to run with this, I meant something like the following as root
Code:
cd /etc
mkdir -p modprobe.d # ignore an error if it says directory exists
cp modprobe.conf modprobe.d/everything.conf #definitely hackish, but might help
then restart

I repeat the advice of others, this is probably the wrong version to start work on. Get a current version of linux - any distro.
