argh...rpms not installing..helpp

hey, i jus formatted and installed red hat 9 yesterday night...ive been trying to install gaim for the past 4 hrs. i tried to install gtkspell first i ran the rpm and it jus ran in the console and the gui without giving me feed back. the installation window jus came up, checked dependencies and closed. gaim is doing the same thing. this is driving me really batty. i remember i installed gaim before. i uninstalled gaim on my system thru the console in case that was the problem. but still no go. thanks for your time.

do the following:

#su
#password: <enter root password>
#rpm -ivh <filename>.rpm

that should install it. If it doesn't, post the output. It should tell you if it requires dependencies

yeesh. got it to work. i jus ran the gtkspell from the console and installed it. then gaim came easy...thanks for the command dude

download apt4rpm for redhat 9 install it (as root) then issue the command apt-get update, then apt-get install synaptic and let synaptic handle it
