. . . and what does Yast mean when it sez:

In trying to solve my inability to follow simple, detailed instructions to get online in SuSE 9.1 live eval, I first suspected the lack of a device driver for the Conexant Win-curse-Gates-modem, which turned out not to be true: nonetheless, after going online in WincurseGatesdows, I found the proper driver for the proper modem and the proper kernal version, all very proper: rebooted to Linux, Yasted, suxed, imported from /media/floppy and got the message "Error loading package list from {hcfpciyadayada}. Absolutely certain proper driver for this modem and kernal and all: tried again after copying floppy to HD, got same obscure message. Searched aroung online for an explanation of Yast error messages, found none, puzzled beyond ability to use pronouns.
As it turns out, the driver I was trying to .rpmulize was already there: but the error message happened so early in the process I suspect that wasn't the prob - I've used RH's package handler (which sounds vaguely gay, but, hey, whatever) to try to install packages I already had, and would get conflict messages more appropriate and much later in the process.
So:
Question 1: What the hell?
Question B: Where is a good place online to find a full description of Yast?

Thank'ee.
Ted, in Beautiful Portland where it never rains but don't move here anyway even though the original Linus is here now.
