Adding programs to the "start menu"

OK, im a total Linux n00b, so be patient!

Ive installed Fedora Core 2 and somehow manged to install a working mp3player. however, the only way i can run the program is from a shell prompt. how do I add a shortcut on the starmenu for it?

P.s. apologies for all the windows terminology!

Which window manager are you using GNOME or KDE?

If you are using KDE just right click on the menu icon (bottom left) and click "Menu Editor"

Oops. should have mentioned. Just left it with GNOME which was installed by default.

(Which is the better option? I dont even think KDE was installed, but i wouldn't have a clue how to switch in any case)
