I have a device that isn't listed in /usr/share/usb.ids
and I believe it might be the cause of my problems, the file says to submit new entries via patches using: "diff -u old new" to <sgowdy+usb.ids@gmail.com>
question 1: how/what is "diff -u old new"?
question 2: do I need to do this? it looks us like a text file, can I edit it myself?
question 3:what is the purpose of usb.ids besides displaying more information with #lsusb?
one source said: "A list of all known USB ID's (vendors, products, classes, subclasses and protocols)"
I'm trying to get my USB "rocketfish" dongle to work but it doesn't show up as a Bluetooth device:
# lsusb
Bus 004 Device 004: ID 0a5c:4503 Broadcom Corp.
Bus 004 Device 003: ID 0a5c:4502 Broadcom Corp.
Bus 004 Device 002: ID 0a5c:4500 Broadcom Corp.
and when I do:
# hcitool scan
Device is not available: No such device
It was recognized as a BT device for one session but it showed up as a diffrent brand name, I haven't been able to get it to be recognized since I shutdown that one time.
