A virgin Linux user

Okay, Im very new so bare with me.

I installed debian linux for the first time 2 days ago and I have an small problem, but one which I have no Idea as how to fix.

When I boot into GNOME everything works perfectly and Linux rocks - no errors or anything. Unfortunately, I want to use KDE. When I login to KDE it hangs on the init screen on "initilialising periferals" and I have to reset.

Is this perhaps a common problem? I dont even know what info to give you. But Ill check back tomorrow sometime and answer any questions.

Any Ideas would be cool.

thanks

Try taking the periferals out one per start-up, and see which one hangs it?

hi

if you are using root delete the .kde folder inside /root. if any other delete that folder under /home/<username.

rm -rf .kde

after that try running kde
