Hello and welcome to LQ!!!

More details/info/clues needed.
(And some History/background: did it ever work anywhere and when did it start failing?)

Can you be a bit more specific about exactly what "downloading" command or action always causes the disconnect?
Can other devices successfully do these "downloads"?

This thread discusses using a script called wireless-info to collect tons of information that might be relevant:
https://www.linuxquestions.org/quest...ork-4175569037
That script will also show you how to look at the system logs (dmesg command, which you'll see at the end of the output in post #13 there).
You might run it once when it's working to collect the baseline, and then run it again while the network is disconnected, to quickly capture the failure, and compare the two.

Does any LQ'er know of a situation where all browsing is fine, but any "download" always causes an immediate wifi network disconnect? (While the same "download" works fine on other devices/OS using the same Wi-Fi; make a *wild guess assumption* that this is: a first time new clean Ubuntu install, on some common older computer that used to work with Windows XP but does not have a built-in Wi-Fi card)

OR @OP(To:OriginalPoster): are you trying to add a new fancy fast Wi-Fi device to an already existing solid Ubuntu system where the built-in Wi-Fi used to work fine???
