what means PING

hello
when I use aMule, in the server list is always indicated a PING number.
Waht means this number?

if you are looking for the word ping, it is an short form for Packet INternet Gopher. ping will send ICMP packets to the destionation address specified and sees whether it gets a reply for the same. A kind of response test
