VIA Rhine NIC and 2.6.8 kernel-image bug!

I installed the debian stable release (2.6.8 kernel-image), the performance of the network card is too bad. I found that the kernel-image 2.6.8 has a buggy module for the VIA Rhine.
I tried to upgrade to a higher kernel but I can't find a higher kernel for the stable release, available higher kernel are for the unstable and the testing releases.
Can anyone suggsnest a solution?

I too have a VIA-RHINE NIC and its been working with no-probs on a 2.6.5 kernel.Maybe you could give us more on what problems/bugs you actually faced/found.

Thanks for your reply, I installed Debian with kernel 2.6.8 , the transfer rate is 12-20 Mbps although it should be ~100Mbps, some people old me that it is a bug in the kernel module, is that true?

with my experience nope! i am running it at 100Mbps.
