Using 2 IP ranges on one DHCP server

Hi all,

I am running a DHCP server on Gentoo 2007.0, kernel 2.6.23-hardened-r4 #1 SMP on an Intel P4 machine.

I want to add a second IP ranges on my LAN, and I need to use both ranges on the DHCP server.
From what I have heard I need to update the DHCP netmask but I am not sure how to go about it.
My second range will be 10.2.38.0/24

My current setup is as follows:
...
option subnet-mask 255.255.254.0;
option broadcast-address 10.2.37.255;
option routers 10.2.37.1;
...
subnet 10.2.36.0 netmask 255.255.254.0 {
range 10.2.37.106 10.2.37.122;
range 10.2.37.170 10.2.37.254;
}

Thank you kindly.

So what's the problem? All you have to do is add another stanza. Depending on how you set things up, your global options may no longer be appropriate and you may have to move those options inside each stanza instead.

Thanks for the reply

I actually got it where I can cover all the IP ranges from my DHCP server, and a little bit more as well.

$ ipcalc 10.2.36.0/255.255.252.0
Address: 10.2.36.0 00001010.00000010.001001 00.00000000
Netmask: 255.255.252.0 = 22 11111111.11111111.111111 00.00000000
Wildcard: 0.0.3.255 00000000.00000000.000000 11.11111111
=>
Network: 10.2.36.0/22 00001010.00000010.001001 00.00000000
HostMin: 10.2.36.1 00001010.00000010.001001 00.00000001
HostMax: 10.2.39.254 00001010.00000010.001001 11.11111110
Broadcast: 10.2.39.255 00001010.00000010.001001 11.11111111
Hosts/Net: 1022 Class A, Private Internet

Thanks again.
